A former member of New Peoples Army (NPA) received P104,000 worth of cash assistance on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
Through the implementation of EO-70 or the NTF-ELCAC and the E-CLIP, the provincial government of Bohol was able to hand over the cash assistance worth of P104, 000 to “Ben” (not his real name) in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government, Provincial Social Welfare and Development,the local government unit of Trinidad, 47th Infantry Battalion and the Philippine National Police.
Ben received the total amount of P104, 000 in all from the immediate cash assistance worth P15,000, plus P50,000 livelihood assistance and the P39,000 for the firearm remuneration given for the surrendered firearm.
“I was recruited and deceived with their struggle. I decided to be a fulltime NPA member three months after my orientation, ” Ben said.
“But in the long run, my life was then uneasy. I’ve realized that being in the leftist organization is not just. Eventually I thought of turning from the armed struggle and gone back to the folds of law. Now, I’m so grateful that the government is giving me another chance to start a new life with this abundant assistance, ” he added.
The programs and benefits aim to improve the lives Former Rebels (FRs) through the socio economic programs provided by the government. With continued collaboration of the LGUs and other government agencies, the government’s intent to capacitate the FRs will be achieved.
For the remaining members of the Communists Terrorists Group, the army will never get tired of urging you to return to the folds of law and avail the programs of our governments for you. The 47IB together with the PGBh will always adhere its promises of helping the FRs to have a productive and progressive living with their families.
