A week of buy-bust operations yielded around P98.6 million worth of shabu and marijuana with the arrest of 217 drug personalities, Central Visayas director Police Brigadier General Val de Leon said Monday.
“From November 9 to 15, 2019, we have 131 police operations conducted that resulted to the arrest of 217 drug personalities and recovery of 1,552.78 grams of shabu worth P10,558,904,” said de Leon.
Surprisingly, de Leon said the bull of the drug haul was 733,554.13 grams of marijuana at P88,026,495.60.
“With the recent positive outcomes in our drug campaign and criminality, I and my men will continue to do our job and serve the Cebuanos,” he said.
“The Police Regional Office 7 will be relentless in our law enforcement operation against criminality and drug trade. We will continue at full speed to deter criminality in the region, ” he added.
In details, Cebu City Police Office has the biggest haul for illegal drugs with 888.55 grams valued at P6,042,140 followed by Cebu Police Provincial Office with 374.50 grams or P2,546,600. Then Negros Oriental PPO with 205.11 grams or P1,394,748, Mandaue City with 56.95 grams or P387,260, followed by Lapulapu City PPO with 26.7 grams or P181,560 and Bohol PPO with 0.97 grams or P6,596.00.
Meanwhile, de Leon lauded the Cebu PPO for the discovery and destruction of marijuana plantations in some hinterland barangays in the province.
