Soldiers belonging to the Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion discovered a harboring area and a bunker of the New People’s Army (NPA) after an encounter on Friday, June 26, 2020, in Sevilla town.

A 10-minute firefight that broke out in Barangay Bayawahan forced the rebels to leave their bunker, said Lt. Col. Allan Tabudlo, Commanding Officer of 47th IB, in a statement released to the media on Saturday.

Tabudlo said the troops recovered one (1) cal 45, two (2) cal 45 magazines, one (1) rifle grenade ammunition, three (3) cell phones, two (2) solar panels, personal belongings, and subversive documents. Troops also discovered a harboring area with two (2) posts and bunkers that can accommodate 20 persons.

“I’m sorry to know that despite our current pandemics of COVID19, they still threaten our countrymen. Forcibly demanded food despite the present misery of the people. It is sad to think that we still have fellow citizens who believe in them instead of being with their loved ones in times of crisis, said Tabudlo.

“I call upon our fellow Filipinos in the mountains who still believed in that fraud ideology to come down and return to the community to live in peace with their families”, he added.

He said the result of the operation only shows that the locals strongly support on the campaign for genuine and lasting peace in the island of Bohol.

“The army on the other hand appears responsive to the call of the people to be their able partners in securing the Boholanos,” he said.
