2 waterspouts spotted over Baclayon Sea

Two small waterspouts (ipo-ipo) took many by surprise as it formed over Baclayon sea on Thursday late afternoon, June 18.

Motorists stopped along the national highway in Baclayon town to take photos and videos of the waterspout.

Ma Lou Fuerzas Tolop, a school principal, shared on Facebook what she saw.

“ATM: On our way home from a day’s virtual interview of teacher 1 applicants, can’t help but stop to capture this phenomenon with my lens……. Nature’s way of playing by herself,” she posted on Facebook.

Another motorist Jane Pahang said she was afraid when she saw two waterspouts.

” It reminded me of what happened in July 2016 that a waterspout destroyed many houses in Baclayon, ” she said in telephone interview.

The waterspouts were also visible in Alburquerque and Loay towns.

However, the waterspouts dissolved at sea minutes after.

A rainfall advisory was issued by Pagasa at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

It said light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are expected over the rest of #Bohol and nearby areas within 2-3 hours.

” The above conditions are being experienced in Southern #Cebu; portion of #Bohol which may persist within 2-3 hours and may affect nearby areas,” it said.
