Police investigators remained puzzled on what led three unidentified men in taking the life of single dad in Bilar town on Monday (June 15) morning.

Twenty-four-year-old Jayson Deliman had no derogatory records, according to the report of Bilar Municipal Police Station, who are still conducting the follow-up investigation on his death.

What puzzled the police is why would three men come up to this remote village, which takes an hour of walking on difficult terrain, just to kill Deliman?

The incident happened shortly before noon time on Monday.

These armed men went to the house of the Deliman’s mother in Sitio Cambaliga, Barangay Cambigsi in Bilar town and started looking for him.

It was his 14-year-old niece who talked to these men after they first asked if her grandmother was around. She told them that her uncle together with his younger sister were inside their house.

Moments later Deliman went out from the bedroom where he was laying and once he reached the porch of their house, one of the three suspects pointed a gun at him.

Deliman then grabbed his niece and used her as his human shield while trying to escape from these men by going to the back of their house.

Unfortunately, while trying to escape them, his niece slipped from his grip.

This prompted Deliman to ran while the three armed men chased him.

Deliman fell to the ground after he was hit from the gunshot fired by one of the suspects.

The other two of suspects went towards him and shot him several times.

Deliman sustained gunshot wounds on his body, right hand and head, which the police said caused his instantaneous death.

Recovered from the crime scene were three fired cartridge cases of a .45 caliber pistol.

The three unidentified suspects allegedly fled to the forested area going to the direction of Barangay Upper Cabacnita in Batuan town.

Meanwhile, Deliman’s family is seeking justice for his death.

“Nanawagan ako sa national government at kay Pangulong Duterte. Sana po mabigyan ng hustisya ang kababata ko. Pinatay siya na walang nakakaalam kong sino ang gumagawa nito?,” said Deliman’s childhood friend Alvin Romende.

Deliman left a 15-year-old daughter.
