A dead man with a wound on his back was found floating at the sea waters off in Tubigon on Monday morning.Police Senior Master Sergeant Darwin Andales, the investigator of Tubigon Police Station, identified the victim as Ronnie Langgoy, 39, a resident of Barangay Tinangnan in Tubigon. Town.Andales said the body was discovered at around 8:45 a.m. by other fishermen. The police and local health authorities responded and removed the body from the water. His body bore a wound in his back.Andales, however, clarified that the wound was not a gunshot wound contrary to claims by the family members on social media.Andales said the cause of Langgoy’s death, based on Dr. Bob Batausa, the municipal health officer’s finding was “massive blood loss secondary to penetrating wound.”One of Langgoy’s family members launched a campaign to give justice to the fisherman. In a Facebook post, a certain Emily Polaguer, who was the niece of the victim, posted photos of Langgoy and asked for a clear investigation on his death.”Yes we’re just ordinary, we’re not rich and yes kahibaw me nga illegal to nga panagat pero wala moy right mo patay og tao , naa man kaha tay Law? Nga og maka violate dakpon pero wala tay Law nga nga og nay mo violate patyon , makadawat raman me ba og namatay siya kay natagak pero d me kadawat nga namatay siya tungod nnyo 😡 Justice among gipangita og d me mohunong hantud d namo na makab.ot,” her post read.Andales said on Sunday dawn, June 7, some personnel of the Tubigon Police Station and Bantay Dagat were conducting a seaborne patrol in the seawaters off in Tubigon and responded on a report of illegal fishing in Barangay Tinangnan. When they checked the area, fishermen were caught using illegal fishing gear locally called as “palakaya” (net). The fishermen hurriedly left their net.Andales said the family didn’t report to police that Langgoy was missing but instead posted it on Facebook.Police are also awaiting the decision of Langgoy’s family if they wish to have the latter’s body undergo an autopsy.
