Until a molecular diagnostic laboratory to test incoming passengers for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is established, Bohol Governor Art Yap will not yet accept the entry of commercial flights and sea trips while the province is still on general community quarantine.
“We are willing to accept (visitors). However, at this point in time, since we still do not have PCR laboratories then we cannot accept them,” Yap said during a press conference on Friday, June 5.
Yap also said even when Bohol will have its own COVID-19 testing laboratory, visitors will have to undergo a five-day quarantine.
The provincial government suspended all commercial flights and sea trips to and from Bohol since March 16 to further curb the spread of COVID-19.
Last month, officials from the National Task Force Against Covid-19 headed by chief implementor Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. and Test, Trace, Treat (T3) chief implementor Sec. Vince Dizon visited Bohol province.
During their visit, Dizon discussed that the putting up of molecular laboratories will not only help in increasing the testing capacity in Central Visayas but become a tool in its strategy for slowly opening up the economic activity in Bohol including its tourism.
The Department of Tourism earlier said in a statement that Bohol is among the three tourism destinations in the country that they’d plan to make as a model for “new normal” tourist spot.
