Calape Municipal Mayor Nelson Yu confirmed that a tricycle driver is part of their contact tracing efforts following the confirmation of their first COVID-19 case.
According to Yu, the tricycle driver is among the first generation of close contacts.
However, the LGU is still searching for the said driver who was hired by the patient’s wife to ferry her from Tagbilaran City to Calape.
The patient was an 89- year-old-man who was admitted last May 25.
He later died at the government-owned Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) where his swab samples were taken.
The contact tracing was done since May 27.
Yu said the local government unit was able to contain the first generation of close contacts including the man’s 30-year-old wife.
They are quarantined for 10 days now.
GCGMH on Thursday reported that the patient turned out to be positive for COVID-19 as confirmed from his polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
GCGMH said the patient was admitted and cared for in the COVID-19 severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) unit.
However, the patient died on the first day of admission.
Meanwhile, Mayor Yu assured the public that necessary contact tracing and mandatory quarantine of close contacts have been done.
