The controversial Boholano seaman has posted a public apology for his quarantine rant that drew flak.
The repatriated OFW was smalled by Boholanos netizens after he complained about his room accommodation at a designated Bohol quarantine facility Tuesday night.
The seaman identified as Angelo Christian was part of the 48 Boholano Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) stranded in Manila who arrived in Bohol Tuesday night via Cebu, on board a mercy trip organized by government.
On his now-deleted Facebook post, he said their room accommodations and current situation are a bit below expectation.
Although he didn’t mention the name of the quarantine facility, he said the quarantine facility is under renovation and the toilet and bedroom are both untidy.
His post added that there were five of them in one room, which accordingly defeated the purpose of social distancing.
His complaint, which was subjected to online debate wad deleted an hour after his post.
Screenshots of the rant, however, have circulated and have been reposted a number of times accompanied by accusations that the OFW was being ungrateful.
Dauis Mayor Marietta Tocmo-Sumaylo responded to his post. She said that no hotel or private facility had initially agreed to accommodate the returning OFWs until the current ones agreed to take the repatriated Boholanos in while on a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Sumaylo even offered to pay for his fare if he wished to return to Cebu, where according to him provided better lodging.
Other netizens told him to just be contented and happy in this anxiety-filled time.
Others said he has valid points that leaders should investigate and not to settle for mediocre.
On Wednesday, Angelo Christian asked for an apology.
“Sa mga Nasuko nahu, wala layhi sa ahung post, mga nang bash ug nakasabot nahu. Kinasing kasing kong nangayo kog Pasaylo ninyu kabalo ko harsh ang words nahu ug nasayop ko, nagpasalamat ko sa gobyerno ug mga tao. Salamat sa tanan. Hinaut sab nga sabton ninyu akong kahimtang sugod palang daan sa barko hantud pag.ule namu dre stress gyud. Pasayloa ko ni ninyu. Salamat sa tanan,” he posted on Facebook.
