The local government unit (LGU) of Tagbilaran City has already begun the distribution of one sack of rice per household today, April 27.

This is part of the city’s assistance to its constituents during the province-wide enhanced community quarantine.

According to Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap, the distribution of the sacks of rice was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod through its supplemental budget.

Tagbilaran City has 15 barangays with a population of 105,051 people.

He said at least 27,000 households will receive the sacks of rice.

The city government distributed the sacks of rice to the barangays.

Initially, the barangays of Cabawan, Mansasa, and Ubujan have already received them and also began distributing to their residents today while the other villages would follow.

TO BE DELIVERED HOUSE TO HOUSE
Mayor Yap earlier announced that the distribution would be delivered directly to the houses of the intended recipients.

However, a photo showing people lining up in an undetermined area allegedly in Barangay Mansasa circulated on Monday morning.

The photo showed people crowding in an area apparently not observing social distancing.
In a reminder posted on his Facebook page “Baba Yap”, the mayor again reiterated that distribution of the sacks of rice should be done per household.

“Ihatod gyud na siya balay to balay. If mo adto mo sa covered court dili mo mahatagan plus maka-cause mo og delay sa distribution. So please ana ra ta sa balay,” Yap wrote on his post.

According to Yap, distribution in Barangay Mansasa was delayed, as of this writing.

Tomorrow, it will be Barangay Poblacion 2 and Barangay Tiptip’s turn for the distribution.

For questions and clarification, Yap posted the following hotline numbers that residents can call:

BOOL-DAMPAS-MANSASA – 09977386209
