A 35-year-old man who was about to get his cash subsidy under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) was shot dead by men riding in tandem on a motorcycle in Sierra Bullones town on Thursday afternoon.
Police said the shooting happened at about 2 p.m. near an internet cafe in Barangay Poblacion.
According to an initial investigation of Sierra Bullones Police Station, Auxilio Cafe was at the town hall to get his cash subsidy. When he went outside to look for an internet cafe to photocopy a document for the release of his money, motorcycle-riding men shot him several times.
The gunmen then fled to an unknown direction.
Recovered from the crime scene were four pieces slugs of unknown caliber of firearm; five pieces of fired cartridge cases of 9mm pistol; and two pieces live ammunitions 9 mm pistol.
Police said the incident is still under investigation.
SAP is a cash emergency subsidy program (ESP) for 18 million Filipino families whose lives are greatly affected by the ECQ. It’s mandated by the new law, the Bayanihan To Heal As One Act, which was signed by the President last March 25, 2020.
