DANAO, BOHOL — What started as a casual drinking session ended in bloodshed after a man attacked his companion with a bolo in Barangay Remedios, Danao, on Wednesday night, October 8.
The victim was identified as Robert Torrenueva Marson, a resident of Estaca, Dagohoy, and the suspect as Ramil Auxtero Orapa, 41 years old.
According to initial reports, both men were drinking at the house of a certain Ruben Marson when an argument erupted between them. In the heat of the altercation, the suspect allegedly grabbed a bladed curved bolo (rice sickle) and slashed the victim’s neck, leaving him with a deep wound.
Responding officers from the Danao Police Station quickly arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect. The weapon used in the attack was also recovered.
The injured victim was brought to the Danao Municipal Health Office and later transferred to the Governor Celestino Gallares Medical Center in Tagbilaran City for further treatment.
Police have detained Orapa and filed a case of frustrated homicide against him.
Authorities continue to remind the public to avoid excessive drinking and to resolve disputes peacefully to prevent similar violent incidents.
