Central Visayas now has 45 confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after seven new cases were added today, the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH CVCHD) said in a release on Tuesday evening.
As of 5 p.m. today, the health department reported that of 122 test results released, seven yielded positive results. This brings the total confirmed cases in the region to 45.
There is an additional one repeat negative test from a previously confirmed case.
It also reported that there are 23 laboratory negative cases.
However, no death due to COVID-19 was recorded today in region.
The six new cases, who are residents of Cebu City, were said to have contracted the virus from previously confirmed cases.
Cebu City now has a total of 31 cases.
The seventh confirmed case is from Lapu-Lapu City. This now brings the total cases in the city to four.
Mandaue City’s cases remain at two.
There are no new cases from the provinces of Bohol, Cebu and Negros Oriental. The province of Siquijor continues to have no reported cases of COVID-19.
COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that first emerged in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province in China last year.
