Bohol Governor Arthur Yap will make an important announcement on Friday morning in relation to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as government officials scramble to contain the rapid spread of the new coronavirus in the country.
Yap is expected to give his statement at 8 a.m. Friday, March 13, during the “Tingog sa mga Bol-anon” and announce further measure to curb the risk of the burgeoning health crisis.
He led a consultation meeting with health experts and multi-sectoral stakeholders of Bohol on Thursday.
News on “Lockdown in Bohol” relative to COVID-19 circulated on social media. However, there was no official confirmation from Capitol yet regarding the lockdown.
President Rodrigo Duterte had announced a month-long lockdown of the whole of Metro Manila.
Land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from the National Capital Region will be suspended from March 15 to April 14, while mass gatherings have also been banned.
The Department of Health earlier said that a lockdown would only become a viable strategy if Code Red Sublevel 2 is raised.
The Philippines has so far reported 49 infections and five deaths.
The World Health Organization has officially declared the virus that has infected more than 124,000 people and killed 4,500 a pandemic.
