CEBU CITY – Boholano prelate and Tagbilaran Diocese Bishop Abet Uy, while presiding the Fiesta Señor mass in Cebu, encouraged the devotees to emulate a child’s character.
“Importante ang kapistahan sa Sinulog, nagpahinumdum nato nga magsinampitay ta. Kanunay musampit sa Ginoo. Daghan ang masulob-on kay wala na magsinampitay,” a calm Bishop Abet Uy shared in his homily.
Reflecting on the feast of the Sto. Niño, he referred to the Child Jesus as our example and inspiration.
“Ang mga deboto kailangan magpabiling bata. Unsaon man ang pagkabata? Atong paminawon si Hesus. Ang pagkabata dili sa panagway, ang pagkabata dili sa pangedarun. Ang pagkabata naa sa hiyas sa mapaubsanon,” he added.
“This a challenge for us. We need each other. We need God to be happy,” Bishop Uy continued.
Furthermore, the Boholano bishop challenged the devotees to free themselves from addiction to mobile phones and instead give more time to Jesus and other people.
While Bishop Uy recognized that cellphones are useful tools, it must be used in the right way.
“If naay wifi makalimot na sa Ginoo. If naay wifi dili na musampit sa Diyos.Dili na makahunahuna musampit sa ubang tawo,” he said.
Bishop Uy officiated the 2:30 p.m. Holy Mass on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu in Cebu City.
