The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Central Visayas is responding to a ship in distress off the coast of Sibonga town, southern Cebu.
The fastcraft MV Siargao Princess,
carried 53 passengers and 7 crew.
It left Loon Internarional Port at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 7.
When it was off Sibonga waters with a distance of three to five nautical miles, sea water started to enter the vessel after encountering huge waves.
PCG responded to the incident.
It directed its MRRV 4406 BRP Suluan to proceed at vicinity waters of Sibonga and directed one team of Coast Guard Medical to proceed in Argao Port and provide necessary assistance.
It is unclear as to whether the boat has capsized or sunk. PCG-7 is yet to issue an official statement on this.
