Police confiscated P340,000 worth of illegal drugs and arrested two Maritime students in a buy-bust operation in Tagbilaran City Tuesday dawn.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Oscar Boyles, acting chief of Tagbilaran City Police Station, identified the suspects as Ramil Tamsi, 26, a resident of Sitio Aton, Calatrava, Carmen town and Bernard Mehogne, 27, a resident of Sitio Tinukod, Mantalongon, Sagbayan town.

Tamsi is a 3rd year college student taking up Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSME), while Mehogne is a 2nd year college student taking up Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT).

The Tagbilaran City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit led by Boyles arrested the suspects at around 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, along Miguel Parras Street, Tagbilaran City.

Tamsi transacted with an undercover cop, while it was Mehogne who handed over the sachet of suspected shabu.

Police placed Tamsi under surveillance after receiving information from a police asset of his illegal drug trade in the city.

Siezed from the suspects were 50 grams of suspected shabu with Dangerous Drugs Board value of P340,000 and illegal drugs paraphernalias.

The suspects are now detained at Tagbilaran City lock-up jail while waiting for the charges against Republic Act 9165 to be filed.
