Four out of the at least 15 suspects in the robbery of several esablishments inside a mall in Mandaue City were killed after they wrestled and tried to get hold of the service firearms from the arresting authorities.

Police Lt. Col. Emelie Santos, Bogo City Police Station chief, said that the four suspects were shot while they were being transported on the way to their police station.

They identified the slain suspects as Kevin Andales, 25, Tangub City; Wilfredo Enguito, 47; Philip Taborada, and Glen Tairos.

In a separate interview, Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) Col. Jonathan Abella said that after they received the robbery alarm inside the J Center Mall they sought assistance from the police stations in the province to conduct check points to intercept the robbers.

The Regional Special Operation Task Group (RSOG-7) also called up all the other police stations in Cebu to be alert and monitor the suspects in their jurisdiction.

MCPO gave all the details including the getaway vehicle that the suspects used.

It was at past 11 p.m. on Saturday when Police Staff Sergeant Jojit Potot noticed a Toyota Innova with plate number ZEM 489 and three motorcycles in a wharf located in Barangay Polangbato, Bogo City.

The description of the vehicles matched the details given by RSOG-7. This prompted Potot to immediately apprehend the nine suspects.

The police identified the five other arrested as Roel Sumingit, 35, from Tangub City, Misamis Occidental; Jun Candelaria, 38, from Naga City, Bicol; Julivy Quirante, 43, Tangub City; Arnel Cimafranca, 38, wounded and from Tangub City; and another person who is yet to be identified.

The police were able to seize a 38 revolver, cellular phones, thousands of money, vehicle tools, clothes, and the vehicles.
