Boracay, which reopened to visitors in October 2018 after a six-month rehabilitation, was voted by Conde Nast Traveler in its 2019 Readers’ Choice Awards as the best island in Asia.
The aptly named White Beach is Boracay’s main draw, with powdery white sand and shallow azure water ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
Also part of the list are the local spots Cebu and Visayas islands which came in second, and Palawan which ranked fourth.
Cebu draws nearly 2 million travelers annually for its pristine beaches and diving off the island’s northern coast. Spanish and Roman Catholic influences permeate Cebu City; Basilica Minore del Santo Niño houses a small statue of Christ that was presented by Ferdinand Magellan.
Other popular attraction is the Kawasan Falls, a swimming hole and series of three waterfalls near Cebu’s southwest coast.
