Architect German Torero, an immensely passionate architect and cultural worker and as one of the most revered architects in the province, died on Sunday. He was 52.
His death was confirmed by his sister Tiara Lourdes Torero and some close friends.
“We shall never forget you dear friend, beloved architect GERMAN TORERO, you who mentored hundreds of architect students and artists in appreciating and studying our built heritage,” award-winning theater director and musical scorer Lutgardo “Gardy” Labad posted on Facebook Sunday.
Torero, who mentored hundreds of architect students and artists in appreciating and studying Bohol’s built heritage, was one of the founding members of the Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage Council and one of the framers of the Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage Code.
He was the dean of the University of Bohol College of Architect and Fine Arts (UB – CAFA), past president of the United Architects of the Philippines – Bohol Chapter and consultant on Heritage Preservation of the City Government of Tagbilaran.
