Tropical depression Marilyn has entered the Philippine area of responsibility, threatening to dump moderate to heavy rains over vast swaths of Luzon and Visayas, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Thursday that the tropical depression entered PAR at 9:30 a.m. and is named “Marilyn.”

Light rainshowers in Tagbilaran City on Thursday, September 12, 2019.

Marilyn may spawn floods and landslides in Visayas, Calabarzon, Bicol, Mimaropa and Zamboanga regions, and Aurora, Quirino, Isabela, and Cagayan provinces, said PAGASA.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience localized thunderstorms, added the agency.

Marilyn is the country’s 13th storm this year.
