Outgoing Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) chief finally confirmed her appointment as the next general manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on Monday.
Police Col. Royina Garma told reporters she has availed of an early retirement after she has accepted the post offered to her by President Rodrigo Duterte.
This would mean she is availing of an early retirement from police service.
For her, leaving the job she learned to love was a “difficult decision”.
“It is going to be an extremely different situation for me since I will be moving from public service to corporate world,” said Garma.
The police official, who served more than two decades, still has 10 years to serve the police force.
Police Brigadier Gen. Debold Sinas, director of Police Regional Office Region 7 (PRO-7), said Duterte made known of his decision to appoint Garma during a command conference with police and military officials last June 18.
Although he considers Garma a big loss especially for CCPO, Sinas said he is confident that she can be an asset to the organization.
No names were floated yet as to who will replace her as CCPO chief but Sinas said he would like another woman to lead the police force in Cebu City. //
