TAGBILARAN CITY — A 56-year-old farmer was killed after being shot with an improvised shotgun by his neighbor following a heated argument over a goat that allegedly ate the latter’s plants in Barangay Quezon, Bilar, Bohol, on Tuesday, November 3.
The victim died at the scene after sustaining a gunshot wound shortly after 5 p.m., said PCapt. Allain Randy Liba, officer-in-charge of the Bilar Municipal Police Station.
Based on the initial police investigation, the incident stemmed from the victim’s goat straying into the suspect’s property and grazing on his plants.
The suspect’s wife confronted the victim, resulting in an argument. The woman reportedly left after the victim allegedly brandished a knife.
However, the victim later followed her to their house, where another confrontation occurred.
Police said the victim allegedly threatened to kill the couple, prompting the woman to seek refuge inside their home.
When the victim attempted to enter and opened the door, the suspect allegedly fired an improvised shotgun at him.
The bullet struck the victim in the armpit and penetrated his heart, killing him instantly.
The suspect surrendered to barangay officials after the shooting and was turned over to the Bilar police for proper disposition.
Police are investigating the incident to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
