TAGBILARAN CITY — A family of five in San Miguel, Bohol, received a new home on Saturday, Oct. 24, under the Bohol Police Provincial Office’s (BPPO) Libreng Alagad ug Balay (LAB) Project.
The house was turned over at 9 a.m. to Michael Albit, 36, his wife Emily and their three children, residents of Purok 3, Barangay Mahayag.
The turnover marked the 144th house awarded under the police-led housing initiative, which aims to provide safer and more decent homes to law-abiding Boholano families with strong faith in God.
The project was implemented with support from the Balay sa Paglaum Housing Initiative of Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado and Rep. Vanessa Aumentado, in coordination with the San Miguel Municipal Police Station, the local government of San Miguel and the Mahayag barangay council.
The San Miguel police station is headed by Chief of Police Capt. Nicolas Aparilla, while the municipal government is led by Mayor Ian Gil Mendez.
Mahayag is headed by Barangay Captain Segundo Hencianos.
Volunteers also contributed their time and effort to help make the family’s dream of owning a home a reality.
BPPO provincial director Col. Patricio Degay Jr. said the initiative reflects the police force’s continuing commitment to extend assistance to families in need, including those in remote and hard-to-reach communities.
Through the LAB Project, the BPPO seeks to demonstrate that police service goes beyond law enforcement and includes efforts to improve the living conditions of communities.
