Dolly Parton, one of the most prolific and revered country music artists of all time, has died at the age of 80. Her family announced her death on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced the news in a video posted to Parton’s social media accounts. Seaver, who served as her head of security for more than two decades, revealed that Parton had asked him years ago to make the announcement when the time came.
Born Dolly Rebecca Parton in rural Tennessee, the country music legend built a career spanning more than six decades. From humble beginnings, she became one of the most celebrated figures in music, while also making her mark as an actress, songwriter, businesswoman and philanthropist.
