TRINIDAD, BOHOL — A 51-year-old single mother and her six children have received a new home through the 134th “Libreng Alagad ug Balay” project in Barangay Guinobatan, Trinidad, Bohol.
Dorina Tirol Galdo, a mother of six, has been raising her children on her own after her partner left the family. She earns a living as a household helper and, at times, had to bring her young child to work to meet the family’s daily needs.
Galdo and her children had endured several hardships over the years. Their small vulcanizing shop collapsed during the pandemic, while their home was later destroyed by Typhoon Odette.
Despite these challenges, Galdo remained determined to provide for her children and held on to her faith and hope for a better future.
On August 21, 2026, that hope turned into reality when Galdo and her children received their newly built home.
The project is the 134th “Libreng Alagad ug Balay” initiative, carried out through the partnership of Balay sa Paglaum and the advocacy of Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado and Rep. Vanessa Aumentado. The program seeks to provide shelter and renewed hope to families in need.
The construction of the house was also made possible through the support of Trinidad Mayor Roberto Cajes, Police Chief Major Cresente Gurrea, the Barangay Guinobatan Council, volunteers and partner stakeholders who contributed their time, effort and resources to the project.
The turnover marked more than the completion of a house for the Galdo family. It represented a fresh start for a mother who had faced years of hardship while raising her children.
The Bohol Police Provincial Office, under Provincial Director Col. Patricio Degay Jr., said it would continue its commitment not only to protecting the public but also to serving communities, extending hope and helping create positive change in people’s lives through its “Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman” advocacy.
