TAGBILARAN CITY — Police seized an estimated 375 grams of suspected shabu worth P2.55 million and arrested a high-value drug suspect during a buy-bust operation in Tagbilaran City on Thursday, July 23.
The operation was carried out by operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Bohol Police Provincial Office in Purok 7, Barangay Mansasa.
Authorities arrested a 33-year-old man, who was identified by police as a high-value individual in the government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.
Recovered from the suspect were approximately 375 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, with an estimated street value of P2.55 million.
Police also confiscated the buy-bust money, a sling bag containing the seized evidence, an Android mobile phone, and a motorcycle believed to have been used in the suspect’s alleged illegal drug transactions.
The Bohol Police Provincial Office said the operation was conducted in accordance with the Philippine National Police’s operational procedures, including the use of alternative recording devices as required under Supreme Court Administrative Matter No. 21-06-08-SC. Barangay officials and a representative from the media witnessed the inventory of the seized items.
The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and is now under police custody. He will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police said they will continue intensifying anti-drug operations as part of efforts to keep communities safe and curb the illegal drug trade in the province.
