TAGBILARAN CITY — A woman was taken into custody shortly after a reported stabbing incident at Tagbilaran City Square through a joint operation by the Philippine National Police (PNP), the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), the All Light, Emergency, Rescue and Transport (Alert) emergency response team, and the Tagbilaran City Government.
The operation was launched after authorities received reports that a woman had allegedly injured a resident of Tagbilaran City. The suspect was immediately located and secured by responding personnel.
Earlier, a netizen appealed to the city government to take action after claiming that her younger sibling was injured by a woman believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis while carrying a knife at Tagbilaran City Square.
In a Facebook post, Edelyn Busano Castillo said her sibling narrowly escaped more serious injuries despite the incident occurring while accompanied by a child. She also warned the public to remain vigilant and urged local authorities to act swiftly to prevent similar incidents.
Mayor Jane Yap said efforts are underway to identify the woman’s family so she can receive appropriate assistance.
Yap believes she requires proper medical evaluation and mental health intervention while ensuring the safety of both the public and the individual involved.
