The Provincial Health Office (PHO) handed out cash prizes and certificates to outstanding local government units (LGUs) as the provincial government gave nutrition councils, and achievers on Dec. 20 at the Panda Tea Gardens and Suites.
In the gathering attended by municipal mayors, program coordinators, scholars, and health officers, the winners from various categories were awarded certificates and cash prizes by the Provincial Nutrition Council (PNC), led by program coordinator Glenda Grafilo who welcomed the guests to the program.
For the outstanding municipal nutrition councils, Trinidad snared the top spot, followed by Alicia, second; San Miguel, third; Ubay, fourth; and Sikatuna, fifth.
Also cited were Sierra Bullones, sixth; Anda, seventh; Carmen, eighth; Catigbian, ninth; and Garcia Hernandez and Alburquerque tied for tenth place.
In the outstanding barangay nutrition councils for the first district, the awardees for the top three places were Poblacion II of Sikatuna, Causawagan Norte, Catigbian; and Poblacion, Antequera.
Meanwhile, the top three awardees in the second district were barangays San Vicente and Catoogan, both of Trinidad, and Camanaga of San Miguel.
For the third district, the awardees for the top three were barangays Montesuerte of Carmen, Progreso, Alicia; and Poblacion, Anda).
The municipalities of Balilihan and Garcia Hernandez received the green banner seal of compliance year 2, while Talibon and Tubigon were recognized with the exemplary nutrition award.
In the outstanding Idol Ko Si Nanay implementation category, the towns that received recognition were Alburquerque, Antequera, Balilihan, Sikatuna, Bilar, Catigbian, Corella, Cortes, Guindulman, San Isidro, Talibon, Trinidad, Ubay, Tagbilaran City, Alicia, Garcia Hernandez, Loay, Talibon, and Tubigon.
Individual personalities were also recognized for their outstanding performances.
They were Myra Madrangca, municipal nutrition action officer; Jesle Fuentes, municipal nutrition program coordinator; Beatrice Rafols, district nutrition program coordinator; and Leonida Gamao, barangay nutrition Scholar.
The outstanding municipal nutrition action officers in the district were Mhay Licayan and Shazha Patayon, while Isabel Jaculba of Antequera; Felisa Loreto, Trinidad; Elyn Hare, Sierra Bullones; Alicia Ellorimo, Sikatuna; and Evangeline Tirol, Dimiao; were the outstanding nutrition program coordinators.
During the same event, barangay nutrition scholars Rochelle Planas of Alicia; Susana Sanchez, Talibon; Jeneth Butal, San Miguel; Rosalie Sanchez, Cortes; Gemma Luzano, Loboc; and Viola Guarte, Buenavista; were also awarded and given recognition.
In his welcome message, Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez of the PHO cited the importance of food choices.
“What you eat is what you become,” Lopez said, stressing that these choices that affect “our health in our daily lives.”
Lawyer Filipina Asoy-Piollo, who represented Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado during the event, expressed the provincial government’s gratitude to all the awardees for their efforts in implementing nutrition programs.
The chief of staff of the provincial government also recognized their commitment to eradicating malnutrition among Boholanos as part of delivering inclusive healthcare services as prioritized in the Strategic Change Agenda. (PiMO/JSS)
