Police investigate crash that seriously injures Polish national, passenger in Panglao

PANGLAO, Bohol — Police are investigating a road crash that left a Polish national and his passenger seriously injured after their motorcycle was struck by a van along Airport Road in Barangay Lourdes, Panglao on Saturday evening, July 18.

Investigators identified the motorcycle rider as Maciej Lewandowski, a Polish national who was driving a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle. His passenger was identified as Rhean Dumaylo, 20, a temporary resident of Elves Cottage in Barangay Tangnan, Panglao.

The other vehicle involved was a white Toyota Hi-Ace van bearing plate number YKL 189, driven by Sabin Larrazabal Enrilez Jr., a resident of Bonifacio Extension, Ormoc City, Leyte.

According to the initial police investigation, both vehicles were traveling in the same direction from Barangay Lourdes toward Tawala via Airport Road. Upon reaching the area, the motorcycle reportedly slowed down and made a left turn toward Bolod Road, where it was hit by the van traveling behind it.

The collision caused damage to both vehicles, although authorities have yet to determine the estimated cost of the damage. Lewandowski and Dumaylo sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a hospital in Tagbilaran City for medical treatment.

Police are conducting further investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
