TAGBILARAN CITY — A barangay councilor tagged as a high-value individual (HVI) was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Cabilao Island in the town of Loon, Bohol, police said on Thursday, July 16.

The operation on July 14, conducted by the Loon Municipal Police Station as part of the Philippine National Police’s intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign, led to the seizure of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P51,680.

Police said the suspect, a barangay kagawad, was apprehended after allegedly selling illegal drugs to an undercover operative. Authorities also recovered suspected shabu and marked money used during the operation.

The confiscated items were taken into police custody for proper documentation and laboratory examination.

The suspect is facing charges for violations of Sections 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The Bohol Police Provincial Office said the arrest underscores its continuing campaign against illegal drugs under the leadership of Provincial Director Col. Patricio Degay Jr.

Police reiterated their commitment to intensify anti-drug operations as part of efforts to maintain peace and order across the province.
