TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — A 46-year-old van driver died after suffering an apparent heart attack while driving a passenger van in Batuan town on Monday morning, June 29, authorities said.
The incident happened at around 9 a.m. along the road in Barangay Rizal, Batuan.
According to a passenger seated in the front seat, the driver suddenly began clutching his chest while driving. Realizing something was wrong, the driver managed to steer the vehicle toward the side of the road before it veered into a roadside canal.
The driver, a resident of San Miguel town, was later declared dead. Authorities said the cause of death was cardiac arrest.
All 17 passengers aboard the van, which was bound for Tagbilaran City, escaped the incident unharmed.
Authorities have yet to release the identity of the driver pending notification of his family.
