MABINI, Bohol — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to lead the inauguration of the Mabini-Cayacay Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) in Barangay Abaca, Mabini town, on Monday, June 22.
The irrigation facility, implemented by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), is a major agricultural infrastructure project worth P725 million aimed at boosting food production and improving farmers’ livelihoods in eastern Bohol.
According to NIA, the project is expected to directly benefit more than 300 farmers in Mabini by providing a reliable water supply for agricultural lands, helping increase crop yields and reduce dependence on rainfall.
The Mabini-Cayacay SRIP forms part of the national government’s efforts to strengthen irrigation systems across the country and enhance food security through sustainable water resource management.
Local officials and farmers are expected to attend the inauguration, which highlights the administration’s continued investment in agricultural development and rural infrastructure.
The project is anticipated to contribute to increased farm productivity, higher incomes for farmers, and greater resilience of the agricultural sector against the impacts of climate variability and prolonged dry spells.
