Bohol Vice Gov. Dionisio Victor Balite has died. He was 52.
The vice governor died in a hospital in Tagbilaran City last night, July 17, according to his family.
The official cause of death has not been disclosed.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Papa Victor Balite. We kindly ask for your prayers for the eternal repose of his soul,” said Balite’s son, Rev. Fr. Bernadine Jade Dionne Balite in his Facebook post.
“The details regarding the venue and schedule of the wake, including the wake masses and interment, will be shared at a later time. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” he added.
Balite started his political career as first board member in 2016. He won as vice governor in 2022 elections.
On May 28, 2024, Balite assumed as acting governor after Gov. Aris Aumentado were suspended because of the Chocolate Hills fiasco.
Colleagues, friends and workers at Capitol expressed their condolences over Balite’s passing, highlighting his contributions as a public servant.
“Nawad-an ko og usa ka buotan nga amigo, ug loyal nga ka-partner sa politika, makaguol pero sayod man ta nga ang atong kinabuhi ning kalibutana dili dumalayon. Ang imong mga handumanan sa atong administrasyong Aumentado-Balite, akong isipon nga inspirasyon sa pagpadayon sa atong pagserbisyo sa mga Bol-anon. My condolences sa pamilya Balite. Rest in peace my Vice Governor,” said Aumentado.
3rd district Rep. Alexie Tutor shared of her and Balite in a campaign sortie and captioned,” The 3rd District of Bohol mourns the passing of our Beloved Vice Governor Victor Balite. Akong kauban sa Sangguniang Panlalawigan niadtong 2016-2019; ang akong ka-birthday ug kauban sa grupo. Usa ka tao nga way libog ika istorya, dali ra kaayo ika – sabot,” she said.
” VG, thank you for being such an understanding person. You will always be remembered by the people who know you best. Salamat sa memories ilabi na sa panahon sa kampanya nga bisan unsa ka kapoy, game ra gyud gihapon ka. Your perseverance against all odds is a trait we all should emulate. Rest well our Vice Governor. Thank you for serving Bohol. Thank you for your love to the 3rd district, ” Tutor added.
2nd district Rep. Vanessa Aumentado said,” Daghan daghan kaayong SALAMAT sa imung pagkamaayong tawo, matinabangon ug serbisyo para sa katawhang Bol-anon ❤️ We love you VG Dionisio Victor Balite. Thank you for all the beautiful memories❤️.”
