GETAFE, Bohol — More than 2,200 residents of Getafe received rice assistance from the provincial government of Bohol through a distribution program aimed at supporting vulnerable sectors and promoting food security.
The activity was conducted under the Local Government Support Fund–Assistance to Indigent Individuals or Families (LGSF-AIIF), a nationally funded program that provides eligible Filipinos with regular rice subsidies.
Leading the distribution was Miss Bohol 2025 Jackie Fe Melencion of Dauis, accompanied by members of her court: first runner-up Katrina Mae Tabigue of Buenavista, second runner-up Mary Love Lopez of Tagbilaran City, third runner-up Katherine Topsnik of Guindulman, and fourth runner-up Rose Cabando of Talibon.
Their participation underscored the Miss Bohol organization’s commitment to community engagement and public service beyond the pageant stage.
Recipients of the rice subsidy included senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), fisherfolk, solo parents, farmers, indigent households, and other deserving families in the municipality.

Provincial officials said the assistance seeks to help families cope with rising household expenses while ensuring access to basic food necessities.
The rice distribution program is being implemented in accordance with Department of Budget and Management and Department of the Interior and Local Government Joint Circular No. 1, Series of 2026, which governs the implementation of the LGSF-AIIF.
Under the program, qualified beneficiaries receive regular rice assistance as part of the national government’s efforts to provide direct support to disadvantaged individuals and families.
The provincial government of Bohol said the initiative reflects its continuing partnership with national government agencies in bringing essential services closer to communities across the province.
Officials added that the program supports the Capitol’s Strategic Change Agenda, particularly its focus on social equity and human development, by helping improve the welfare of vulnerable Boholano families and strengthening food security in local communities.
