CORTES, Bohol — Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa visited the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Multi-Specialty Medical Center on Saturday, inspecting what officials described as one of the most advanced government-built hospitals in the Visayas.
The facility, located in Cortes, Bohol, was softly opened in September 2025 and is currently operating with a 50-bed capacity for inpatient care, including intensive care unit (ICU), emergency, and outpatient department (OPD) services.
During the visit, Herbosa said the hospital is “the most modern facility built by the DOH.”
The multi-specialty medical center is designed to house specialized institutes for heart, lung, kidney, and cancer care.
Officials said the hospital is expected to expand services in the coming months, including angiography and open-heart surgeries.
The facility is also equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies such as CT scan, PET scan, linear accelerator (LINAC), MRI, operating rooms, and chemotherapy units.
Health officials said the hospital is expected to significantly improve access to specialized medical services for patients in Bohol and nearby provinces in the Visayas.
