TAGBILARAN CITY — Tourist transport operators in Bohol are reviewing the possibility of raising their rates after fuel prices for gasoline and diesel continued to climb.
The Bohol Confederation of Tourist Transport Providers (BCTTP) held an emergency meeting to assess the impact of higher fuel costs on their operations.
BCTTP president Elvieh Sarmiento said the consecutive increases in fuel prices have seriously affected the province’s tourist transport services.
“I called the meeting because our transport services are among the most affected by the rising fuel prices,” she said. “Our group decided to adjust our rates. There is a change in our rates compared to the previous and current prices.”
The group, which has 28 members, clarified that the new rates will only apply to upcoming bookings, while previously confirmed reservations will remain at their original price.

“We were forced to raise our rates because fuel prices have gone up. But previous bookings will still be charged at the same rate. The new rates are only for upcoming bookings,” Sarmiento said.
The BCTTP also plans to meet with Gov. Erico Aris Aumentado and Board Member Jamie Villamor, chairman of the Committee on Tourism, to discuss the potential impact of rate adjustments on the local tourism industry.
Tourism continues to be a key driver of Bohol’s economy, attracting 1.4 million visitors.
