BFP-7 kicks off Fire Prevention Month 2026 in Bohol

TAGBILARAN CITY — The Bureau of Fire Protection Region 7 – Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal in Bohol officially launched Fire Prevention Month 2026 with a kick-off ceremony at Island City Mall, signaling the start of a month-long campaign to strengthen fire safety awareness and community preparedness across the province.

The event was led by Provincial Fire Marshal Fire Supt Raul Bustaliño, and opened with a motorcade of fire trucks, partner agencies and volunteer groups, highlighting inter-agency collaboration in promoting fire safety advocacy.

Gracing the ceremony were Fire Chief Superintendent Fred Trajeras Jr, regional director of BFP-7, and Fire Chief Superintendent Alven Valdez, director for logistics at the BFP National Headquarters, underscoring the importance of the annual observance.

Also present were Rep. John Geesnel Yap II and Mayor Jane Yap, reflecting strong support from local government units in advancing fire prevention initiatives.

Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado, the guest of honor and speaker, was represented by Retired Brigadier General Arthur Evangelista, executive assistant to the governor for public safety and order.

Adding vibrancy to the celebration was the “Indak Kontra Sunog” Dance Contest, where participating groups promoted fire safety awareness through creative performances, encouraging community involvement in prevention efforts.

The kick-off marks the beginning of intensified public education drives, inspections and community engagement activities throughout Bohol in observance of Fire Prevention Month.
