Human bones found in Candijay forest; police still investigating

CANDIJAY, Bohol — Police are still investigating after human bones were discovered in a forested area in Barangay Can-olin, Candijay, on February 14, 2026.

The Candijay Police Station received a report from a resident regarding the discovery in Purok 6.

Personnel, led by Police Chief Master Sergeant Michael Miasco under the supervision of Police Captain Marvin Chin, chief of police, immediately responded to verify the report and conduct an initial assessment of the scene.

Based on the initial investigation, the skeletal remains were found at around 7 p.m. by a group of youths headed by Leonel Rapirap, a resident of the area, while they were exploring the forest.

Authorities are conducting further examination to determine the origin, identity, and circumstances surrounding the discovery of the human bones.
