TAGBILARAN CITY — Police arrested four individuals and seized 326 reams of suspected illegal cigarettes without graphic health warnings during a buy-bust operation in Purok 1, Barangay Canhangdon Occidental, Loon, Bohol at around 7:25 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
The operation was carried out by intelligence operatives of the Loon Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by Lt. Thomas Zhen Cheung under the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) for violation of Republic Act 10643, or the Graphic Health Warnings Law.
Confiscated during the operation were 241 reams of United cigarettes, 61 reams of American Bison, 11 reams of Dunston, six reams of Fort, and seven reams of Kentucky cigarettes.
Authorities said all recovered cigarette packs lacked the required graphic health warnings mandated by law.
The total estimated value of the seized items reached P293,400.
Police said the suspects were informed of their Miranda rights and that proper police operational procedures were observed during the conduct of the operation.
After booking and documentation at the Loon Police Station, the arrested individuals were released as the offense—first-time violation of Section 6 of RA 10643—carries a penalty of a fine.
