The Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) arrested a total of 494 drug personalities from January to September this year, as part of the intensive province-wide campaign against illegal drugs.

This was disclosed by Police Col. Lorenzo Batuan, BPPO provincial director during “The Capitol Reports” the weekly forum produced by the provincial government.

The Sept. 29 edition discussed updates on Bohol’s peace and order situation.

Batuan revealed that the BPPO conducted 445 operations that led to arrests including 27 identified as “high value” drug personalities on the BPPO’s radar.

Meanwhile, 467 were identified as “street level” individuals.

The BPPO head revealed a 15.92 percent increase in non-index crimes, specifically in drug-related incidents, from 848 in 2022 to 983 so far this year.

Batuan assured the public that the increase is a result of intensive drug campaign through crackdowns and operations and not an increase in criminality in the province.

He added that Bohol remains relatively peaceful both for locals and tourists, as law enforcement continues its anti-criminality quad operations in ensuring public safety. (PIMO/GMC)
