TAGBILARAN CITY — Firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Tagbilaran City on Tuesday, Feb. 10, responded to a snake rescue call at Palma Street here, successfully capturing and relocating a large python, locally known as “baksan”, found in a residential area.

The operation was carried out by personnel of the Tagbilaran City Fire Station led by City Fire Marshal Fire Chief Inspector Constancia June Agustin.

Upon arrival at the scene, the rescue team, led by FO3 Jason Magtabog, immediately secured the area to ensure public safety before safely capturing the snake.

Authorities later identified the animal as a Philippine reticulated python, a non-venomous species.

The python was handled with care and safely removed from the area for proper relocation, preventing possible harm to residents and the animal.

The incident underscored the BFP’s expanded role in emergency response, which includes not only fire-related incidents but also wildlife rescue to ensure public safety and environmental protection.

For fire and other emergencies, the public may contact the Tagbilaran City Fire Station through its hotlines: 0965-320-3000 or 0948-984-7487.
