TAGBILARAN CITY—A newly renovated sari-sari store was destroyed, and several trees were toppled in Barangay Tangnan, Panglao, as Typhoon Basyang lashed the area, officials reported.
The store, owned by Juanita Bondalo in Purok 6A, was left in ruins, with goods scattered across the ground. Trees surrounding the property were also knocked down by the storm’s strong winds.
Bondalo took shelter under a sofa during the incident to protect herself. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The aftermath was posted by Barangay Councilor Anastacia Bolongaita on her Facebook post. She said the typhoon brought heavy rains and strong winds, accompanied by a tornado, locally known as a “buhawi.”
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Basyang made two landfalls in Bohol on Friday.
