TAGBILARAN CITY — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bohol 3rd District Engineering Office has clarified concerns raised on a news report of a local news outlet regarding the ongoing construction of the Tigbao Bridge in Loboc town, assuring the public that the project remains structurally sound and poses no risk to nearby structures.

In an official statement issued on January 24, 2026, the office explained that the structure seen in circulated photos is not the bridge foundation but a temporary craneway built to allow heavy equipment to safely access the construction site in preparation for bored piling works.

The agency said drilling of bored piles will support the bridge’s heavy structural load, while mitigating measures are being implemented to improve site conditions. It noted that the affected area involves only the embankment material of the temporary craneway and does not compromise the integrity of the bridge project.

DPWH further acknowledged the presence of loose soil in the area but stressed that this has not affected construction activities nor posed any danger to adjacent structures.

The office also confirmed that the project experienced delays due to the requirement to secure an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC), with work proceeding only after all necessary clearances were obtained.

The agency urged the public to course inquiries and concerns through proper channels and cautioned against unverified social media posts that may mislead the public. It reaffirmed its commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and quality infrastructure for Boholanos.
