CATIGBIAN, Bohol — Catigbian Mayor Benjie Oliva on Friday ordered the suspension of classes in all levels for the afternoon due to inclement weather brought about by Tropical Storm “Ada.”
The suspension was announced as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel amid rains and strong winds affecting the municipality.
Local officials advised residents to remain alert and follow advisories from authorities as the weather disturbance continues to affect parts of Bohol.
Ada continues to move slowly north-northwest while remaining over the Philippine Sea east of Eastern Visayas, weather authorities reported early Friday.
As of 4 a.m., the center of the storm was located about 370 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, or 430 kilometers east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
Ada is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 80 kph, and has a central pressure of 998 hectopascals, according to the latest bulletin.
Residents in nearby areas were advised to continue monitoring official weather updates as the storm slowly moves northward.
