UBAY, BOHOL — At just 17, Aprol Flor has taken on responsibilities far beyond his years—working to support his two younger brothers while striving to finish school.
On Saturday afternoon, his story took a hopeful turn as the Philippine National Police (PNP) Bohol, through its Libreng Alagad ug Balay (LAB) Program, turned over a brand-new home to the Flor siblings in Barangay Tipolo, Ubay town.
The simple yet emotional turnover marked the completion of the 94th house under the LAB Program, which aims to provide shelter to indigent and deserving families across the province.
For Aprol, the new home is more than just a roof over their heads—it symbolizes safety, stability, and the reward of perseverance.
“Kini gyud among pinakadakong panalangin. Dili na mi mag-antos sa ulan ug init,” said Aprol, who continues to balance work and school to support his brothers after losing their parents.
Bohol Governor Erico Aris Aumentado and his wife, Rep. Vanessa “Van-van” Aumentado, personally led the turnover as principal benefactors of the initiative through their “Balay sa Paglaum” flagship program.
Aumentado commended Aprol’s courage and determination.
“Aprol’s story inspires us all. Despite life’s hardships, he continues to fight for his dreams and for his brothers. This is exactly why programs like LAB exist—to give hope and dignity back to our people,” he said.
Bohol Provincial Director PCOL Patricio Degay Jr. lauded his team’s continued effort to serve the community beyond their policing duties.
“Our service does not end with maintaining peace and order. It extends to reaching out to those in need, especially the youth who serve as the hope of our future,” Degay said.
The Libreng Alagad ug Balay Program continues to be a model of compassion and collaboration between the PNP and the provincial government, transforming lives one home at a time.
For Aprol and his brothers, it’s a fresh beginning—and a reminder that kindness and hard work can rebuild even the most difficult lives.
