CALAPE, Bohol– The Coral Cliff has issued a strong warning to the public against fraudulent Facebook pages that are posing as the resort’s official account and collecting payments from unsuspecting guests.
In a statement released this week, the management of the Calape-based resort revealed that several individuals have fallen victim to online scammers who created fake pages mimicking the resort’s posts, photos, logo, and contact details. Victims were reportedly tricked into transferring reservation deposits to bogus accounts.
“We are deeply concerned about these scams and the distress they cause to our guests,” the resort management said. “We urge everyone to verify and confirm our official Facebook page and contact numbers before making any reservations or payments.”
The resort said that despite filing a report with the Philippine National Police (PNP), fraudulent activities have persisted. The matter has now been escalated to the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), with coordination underway with Meta (Facebook) for the immediate takedown of the fake pages.
