Archbishop Abet Uy to be installed as Cebu’s new shepherd

The Archdiocese of Cebu will celebrate a historic moment on Tuesday, September 30, with the installation of Most Rev. Alberto “Abet” Uy as the fifth Metropolitan Archbishop of Cebu.

The solemn rites at 9 a.m. in the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral will gather top Church leaders, including Apostolic Nuncio Charles John Brown, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, CBCP President Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, and Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula.

Archbishops from across the country, retired prelates, and dozens of bishops from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will also take part.

Archbishop Uy’s installation marks a new chapter for the Archdiocese of Cebu, long revered as the cradle of Christianity in the Philippines, highlighting the Church’s unity and mission of faith.
