TALIBON, Bohol — Two men engaged in the quarry business were shot dead by unidentified armed assailants inside a private residence in Barangay Tanghaligue, Talibon, on Saturday night, September 6.
Police said the shooting happened around 7:25 p.m. at Purok 1, about 200 meters from the national highway.
Responding personnel from the Talibon Municipal Police Stationfound the victims in separate areas within the compound. One died instantly from gunshot wounds, while the other was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Initial investigation showed that several suspects wearing dark clothing, caps, and camouflage-type attire stormed the compound and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
The Talibon police immediately secured the area and called in the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) for documentation and evidence gathering. Hot pursuit operations and follow-up investigations, including collection of CCTV footage and witness accounts, are ongoing.
Bohol Police Provincial Director Col. Arnel Balagat Banzon said intelligence teams and investigators from the provincial headquarters were deployed to assist in the probe and pursuit operations. Checkpoints and patrols have also been intensified across the province.
A Special Investigation Team will be formed to fast-track the case. Authorities are still determining the motive behind the killing.
Police appealed to the public for any information that could help identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
