TAGBILARAN CITY — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Bohol on Tuesday paid tribute to Neil Andrie Corre, a young boxer who was supposed to represent the province in the upcoming National Batang Pinoy Competition but tragically passed away before his scheduled bout.

Presiding officer Board Member Tomas Abapo, acting as officer in charge vice governor for Vice Gov. Nick Besas, led the body in unanimously adopting a motion to express sympathy and honor the athlete’s memory.

Floor leader Board Member Dionisio Joseph Balite said Corre’s untimely passing is a great loss not only to his family but also to the sporting community of Bohol.

Beyond paying tribute to Corre, the SP also tackled urgent matters during its session. It approved a resolution opening an investigation into a reported medical incident in a local health facility after Board Member Greg Jala shared the grief of constituents who lost their baby due to alleged lapses in care.

The body further acted on agreements with the Department of Health for the continued implementation of health emergency allowances, and with the Department of the Interior and Local Government for the construction of a halfway house under the Enhanced Comprehensive Integration Program for former rebels.
